Since 1971, North Carolina has ranked as the No. 1 sweet potato producing state in the U.S. Its hot, moist climate and rich, fertile soil are ideal for cultivating sweet potatoes, averaging at nearly 50% of the U.S. supply. According to the USDA, North Carolina harvested nearly 50,000 acres of sweet potatoes in 2010, the same amount produced by California, Louisiana and Mississippi combined –
....Huge trucks that have been driving by the house several times a week since the Fall....They are piled high and over the top with sweet potatoes....sometimes a few jump out :)

Mama is getting larger....The other kitty is Super Friendly....Perhaps from an earlier litter....perhaps the father of this new litter.
This cat isn't skinny but he is feather light
After he eats he jumps up on this rock

3/12: There were snow flurries all morning and then the sun came out....This cobweb held onto snowflakes for just a few minutes before melting away.
March 2nd....2017
The weather continues to be quite warm....sunny....clear skies....I am going to start planting some flower seeds just to see if they make it.....Usually if the soil and weather aren't right the seeds just sit there.....
Here is a picture of Big Mama....getting larger all the time. When I let Baki out in the late afternoon....I leave the door opened so he can get back in quickly...in case something chases him....and Killer Mama roams the house....runs in walks around and runs back out....back in...back out....Though we don't talk now....she does attempt to trip me by rubbing up against whichever foot is in the air about to step down.
Here is my new garden bed. I have dug it into the side of the backyard that rises up by three feet or more...Not sure why it rises up....It looks like a septic mound system....but, we are on town water and sewage....One idea I have is that there are other "hidden treasures" below that soil....What lies beneath?......
This bed is about 12 feet long and two feet wide.....It will hold my four tomato plants and two fennel plants.
This is "The Stump"....I have taken rich dirt from around the stump and put it into some of the garden beds. Now, I think I will plant this area with Wildflowers....and Fairy Garden on and around the stump.
