Ballymaloe Irish Brown Bread

A most delicious Sunday breakfast this morning.
Ballymaloe Irish Brown Bread. Super simple and oh so tasty with a great crunchy crust. Thank you Beth for the King Arthur Irish Flour that made for the more course (yum) texture.

Harvested Cotton October 23rd

This is the first time I have seen harvested cotton. There are thirteen to fifteen bales of cotton in one of these "modules". Each bale weighs about five hundred pounds.

Cotton is worth about seventy cents a pound. So that's a pretty penny sitting beside the road:) And a ton of work, I don't even want to think about the chemicals.

Actually I just looked up the chemicals...It's not good. There are twenty or more insects, diseases and then there are the weeds that affect cotton. Each one of the problems is handled with all kinds of different chemicals....or course...And that's just cotton....tobacco, sweet potatoes, peanuts, sage, soybeans, corn....ugh:(

It started out as a cheerful post.....

Morning dew gathered on an elephant ear.

Pi destroying my flower garden as he tries to catch butterflies....No butterflies were hurt. Pi is fast but butterflies are faster:)

Belle peacefully enjoying the straw in the breezeway....until....
